About The Position

The Residential Director is responsible for the growth, development and day-to-day functioning of the Residential Department, the supervision of staff within that department, and acting as a liaison with other program and supporting departments representing the Residential Department. Unified Community Connections is a leading provider of services and programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Maryland. Our agency is often the only place for families to turn for help with severely medically challenged loved ones. We’re looking for a dedicated and hands-on leader with a passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and ensuring high-quality residential services. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can balance day-to-day operations with strategic oversight, and is comfortable making timely decisions in both routine and crisis situations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated abilities in supervision, budget management, and service delivery.
  • Must be able to demonstrate skills in the following areas: problem solving, project/task management, time management, dependability, good judgment and safe work practices.
  • Current maintenance of all required training's under DDA and CMT guidelines and Unified Community Connections.
  • Flexibility of scheduling to meet Agency and program needs.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services is preferred.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years in Residential or Personal Support Services environment.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to write reports and complete forms or other documents as required.
  • Ability to communicate with others including individuals in Unified programs, family members, medical professionals, and co-workers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure: whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to create monthly billing and oversee program budget.
  • Must successfully complete all agency designated training within first ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Maintain current certification in adult CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration.
  • Must attend in service training as required.
  • Must have valid state driver’s license with no more than two (2) points.
  • Must complete all agency required driving training before driving or transporting individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all individuals served are living according to their rights and responsibilities and are free from abuse and neglect.
  • Oversee operations within Residential settings and ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure residences are kept clean, neat and promote a healthy and safe environment.
  • Respond quickly to and is present during crisis situations and medical emergencies and makes decisive decisions when needed.
  • Provide direct care support as needed.
  • Accessible to direct support staff for all emergencies, 24 hours a day/7 day a week. Participate in on call rotation.
  • Visit residences weekly to ensure continued quality of care.
  • Ensure required documentation and Person-Centered plans are current in electronic health record for LTSS billing.
  • Ensure that each individual’s healthcare needs are met. This includes maintaining up-to-date medical appointments, ensuring that all follow-up appointments and referrals are completed and all appropriate documentation is obtained for each medical appointment and/or procedure.
  • Ensure all follow-up medical appointments occur within the required time following Emergency treatments and/or hospitalizations.
  • Ensure staff timeclock punches and locations are accurate.
  • Assure staff members are meeting Agency, state and federal regulations for required in-service training and certifications.
  • Works effectively and cooperatively with superiors, subordinates and peers to ensure Agency personnel policies and procedures are followed and takes necessary disciplinary action to ensure staff members are held accountable to said policies.
  • Provide monthly supervision and annual evaluations for direct support professionals regarding performance.
  • Ensure that the 45-day nursing reviews are reviewed and completed for individuals that receive nursing services.
  • Schedule trainings for Dimensional HealthCare Associates.
  • Provide mentoring to staff and managers in all areas of service delivery, including but not limited to, communication, networking and supports.
  • Attend team House Meetings to provide support and feedback.
  • Interview and provide recommendations for hiring direct support staff.
  • Assist with the on-boarding process and training of new employees in the Residential Program.
  • Develop approved Residential schedules to ensure adequate supports and budgeted hours are maintained.
  • Document and provide progressive discipline for attendance issues.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with associates to ensure Agency policies and procedures are followed and budgetary goals are met related to the financial responsibilities of the individuals.
  • Report all Quality Assurance concerns and issues to the Director of Operations and/or Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer as soon as possible, this includes; but is not limited to, any health and safety concerns.
  • Complete Case Conferences for submission to senior management by established deadline.
  • Construct Plans of Correction for review and approval by senior management by established deadline.
  • Ensures all deadlines are met.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.
  • Supervises Residential Program staff and others as assigned.
