About The Position

The Salvation Army, Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) is seeking compassionate, positive, and engaging individuals to join their team as Residential Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In this role, you will be more than just a caregiver; you will be an advocate, a mentor, and a friend to individuals with developmental disabilities. Your presence will help participants live their lives to the fullest by assisting with daily routines and exploring community activities together. The Salvation Army believes in caring for those who care for others and offers a robust benefits package.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED.
• A valid Driver’s License and the ability to operate a standard sized van.
• The ability to obtain all necessary background clearances.
• An appreciation for The Salvation Army’s mission of service.

• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities.
• Is a natural problem-solver with a positive, "can-do" attitude.
• Communicates with kindness and respect when speaking with program participants, families and staff.
• Has experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook & Word).
• Is comfortable utilizing computers and other technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assisting individuals with their daily routines.
• Exploring local community activities together with program participants.
• Helping program participants explore new interests and broaden their horizons.
