About The Position

The Salvation Army, Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) is seeking compassionate, positive, and engaging individuals to serve as Residential Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In this role, you will be more than just a caregiver; you will be an advocate, a mentor, and a friend, helping individuals with developmental disabilities live their lives to the fullest. This involves assisting with daily routines and exploring community activities together. The Salvation Army offers a robust benefits package and opportunities for career growth.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to operate a standard sized van.
  • Ability to obtain all necessary background clearances.
  • An appreciation for The Salvation Army’s mission of service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities.
  • Natural problem-solver with a positive, "can-do" attitude.
  • Communicates with kindness and respect when speaking with program participants, families and staff.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook & Word).
  • Comfortable utilizing computers and other technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Acting as an advocate, mentor, and friend to program participants.
  • Assisting individuals with their daily routines.
  • Helping program participants explore local community activities.
  • Helping program participants explore new interests and broaden their horizons.
