About The Position

Skillforce has teamed up with a fast growing developer to find a Residential Design Manager in Atlanta, GA. We are seeking an experienced Residential Design Manager to lead the design and selections process for high-end residential construction projects across Georgia and Florida. This role will oversee projects from initial concept through final installation, ensuring designs are cohesive, buildable, budget-conscious, and properly documented.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of residential interior design, selections, or related construction/design experience.
  • Experience with high-end or custom residential construction preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential finishes, materials, fixtures, cabinetry, lighting, and architectural details.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction plans.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident client-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and client decisions simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with design, documentation, and project management software.
  • Willingness to travel between projects and markets as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and material selection process from concept through project completion.
  • Develop design concepts, mood boards, vision boards, color palettes, and client-facing design presentations.
  • Select and coordinate interior and exterior finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, lighting, appliances, hardware, flooring, tile, countertops, and other materials.
  • Serve as the primary design contact for homeowners and clients, leading design meetings, showroom visits, and selection approvals.
  • Create and maintain detailed design books, finish schedules, selection schedules, and related documentation.
  • Review architectural and construction plans to identify design conflicts and coordinate design details with architects, engineers, vendors, and project teams.
  • Work closely with Preconstruction, Purchasing, Project Management, Sales, and vendors to ensure selections align with budget, schedule, availability, and constructability.
  • Identify long-lead materials and procurement risks and provide timely alternate recommendations when needed.
  • Support construction teams with design-related questions, field verification, finish reviews, substitutions, and design punch items.
  • Maintain accurate project records, revisions, approvals, and selections within project management systems.
  • Travel to jobsites, showrooms, vendor locations, and client meetings throughout Georgia and Florida as needed.
