About The Position

The Residential Counselor supports people living with mental illness and developmental disabilities in a mental health residential setting in Monmouth County. The role helps consumers address care challenges, achieve measurable outcomes, and receive services aligned with their Individual Rehabilitation Plans. It also involves coordinating supportive services, monitoring medications, responding to consumer concerns, and documenting services in the electronic health record. The position is scheduled Sunday through Thursday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mental health or human services; OR one or more years of college combined with related life or work experience totaling four years; OR high school diploma or GED plus four years of related work or life experience.
• Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn new computer programs.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility and compassion when working with consumers.

Responsibilities

• Support consumers in achieving measurable outcomes addressing new and ongoing care challenges.
• Adhere to Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (AMHRS) standards.
• Respond to consumer complaints and grievances in a timely manner to support consumer and customer satisfaction.
• Educate and monitor consumers regarding medications, observe medication logs, and complete monthly medication audits.
• Coordinate supportive services based on consumer needs.
• Provide services in accordance with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRP).
• Document services accurately and within required timeframes, following policies and procedures in the electronic health record.
