Residential Construction Manager
About The Position
Windstar Homes is seeking an experienced Residential Construction Manager to manage high-quality custom homes from pre-construction through completion. The role involves overseeing day-to-day construction, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining schedules and documentation, and ensuring work meets project specifications, applicable building codes, and Windstar Homes’ quality standards. The manager represents the company throughout the building process and helps deliver an exceptional homeowner experience. Windstar Homes is a Tampa, Florida–headquartered design-build firm founded in 1996. The company builds one-of-a-kind luxury custom homes and emphasizes quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, personal service, and client satisfaction. It is an award-winning firm and an active member of several regional and national building and green-building organizations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in residential construction.
- At least 3 years of experience building custom homes.
- Proven experience managing residential construction projects from start to completion.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling and project coordination.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, and the Windstar Homes team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with the Florida Building Code is preferred.
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day construction of custom homes from start to finish.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and other construction professionals.
- Develop and maintain construction schedules to keep projects on track.
- Review plans, specifications, selections, and project documents to ensure work is completed accurately.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure construction meets company quality standards, project specifications, and applicable building codes.
- Conduct job-site inspections and proactively identify and resolve construction issues.
- Coordinate inspections and work with local building officials as needed.
- Manage material deliveries and availability to support construction schedules.
- Communicate project progress and issues regularly with subcontractors, vendors, and the Windstar Homes team.
- Maintain accurate construction documentation, including schedules, change orders, inspections, and punch lists.
- Oversee punch-list completion and ensure homes meet company quality standards.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors while holding them accountable to schedule and quality expectations.
- Represent Windstar Homes professionally throughout the building process.
