Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with substance use disorder
  • Emotional intelligence and resilience when handling crises and long-term exposure to traumatic stories and experiences.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with both internal team members and external agencies/partners.
  • Able to work with a diverse client population and understand and respect family dynamics from many cultural viewpoints.
  • Independence, flexibility, and a mature approach to problem solving.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in Epic Connect, Microsoft Office Suite, and other applications
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and co-occurring treatment issues
  • All Meta House staff are required to provide proof of vaccination for MMR, Varicella, and annual flu shot
  • Adherence to a non-smoking work environment.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and 40 pounds on occasion.
  • Bend, stoop, twist, squat, and kneel to perform essential functions.
  • Reach overhead, and at or below shoulder level.
  • Read and enter text or data into a computer or other system.
  • Seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands.
  • Touch, pick, punch or otherwise work with fingers.
  • Hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in order to communicate with clients and/or colleagues.
  • Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • See clearly at approximately 20 inches or less including use of computers or tablet.
  • Visually identify clients and others for reasons including, but not limited to security, presence in the building.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in social work, counseling, or another related field
  • Experience in a residential setting preferred
  • Substance Abuse Counseling or higher LPC-IT or APSW eligible status preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license preferred.
  • Employees who, as part of their regular duties, transport Meta House clients to and from meetings or appointments in their personal vehicle must carry and maintain proof of current Wisconsin automobile liability insurance coverage at or above the minimum state requirements.
  • Access to personal vehicle for work purposes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support all activities related to client admission and retention, including creating a welcoming intake process for women and children, completing all required admission paperwork, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and facilitating treatment groups.
  • Welcome all new residential admissions and their children; orient clients to Meta House services, provide tour/introductions, and ensure clients feel welcomed.
  • Complete all required admission paperwork, including intake forms, biopsychosocial assessment and diagnosis of substance use disorders based on DSM criteria, and ASAM level of care placement.
  • Plan, develop, and facilitate groups.
  • When needed, provide supportive care to individual clients in collaboration with their primary therapist.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Perform all required record keeping and paperwork, accurately and timely.
  • Attend required meetings and clinical supervision.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and state certification standards.
  • With supervisor, ensure coverage of all services as assigned and coverage for colleagues' PTO time.
  • Participate in agency or community-based committees or meetings as assigned.
  • Assist with other duties to support general program operations and occasional special programs.
  • Other duties as may be periodically or permanently assigned.
