About The Position

Diamond House Detox is seeking a dynamic and experienced Residential Clinical Director to lead and strengthen our residential clinical services. This is an exciting opportunity for a licensed clinical leader who is passionate about high-quality client care, residential programming, team development, and creating a safe, structured, and recovery-focused treatment environment. The Residential Clinical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight for all residential treatment services, including supervision of therapists, oversight of residential programming and the therapeutic milieu, and support for clinical quality, documentation, compliance, and client outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative 24/7 treatment environment, enjoys mentoring clinicians, and is motivated by building strong systems that support both clients and staff. The Residential Clinical Director works closely with the Program Director, Outpatient Clinical Director, Admissions, Medical, Behavioral Health Technicians, Program Managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless coordination of care, strong program performance, and continuity across levels of service.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required
  • Current, active clinical licensure in the State of California required, such as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of experience in substance use treatment, including experience in residential treatment settings
  • At least two years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices and ASAM criteria, particularly residential levels of care
  • Working knowledge of DHCS, Joint Commission standards, and clinical documentation requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, coach, and develop clinical teams within a 24/7 treatment environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and disciplines
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems and clinical documentation practices
  • Successful completion of background check, drug test, physical, and TB screening
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under the company’s automobile insurance policy

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision, guidance, and support to therapists and clinical staff within the residential program.
  • Ensures that individual, group, and family therapy services are clinically sound, consistent, effective, and aligned with evidence-based practices.
  • Oversees treatment planning, discharge planning, clinical documentation, and level-of-care decision-making to support high-quality client care in a residential setting.
  • Oversees the implementation, consistency, and integrity of residential programming, including daily schedules, therapeutic activities, group structure, and the overall clinical environment.
  • Helps ensure the therapeutic milieu supports recovery, engagement, accountability, and safety.
  • Works closely with Program Managers and Behavioral Health Technicians to maintain structure, consistency, and appropriate client supervision within a 24/7 treatment setting.
  • Plays a key role in maintaining clinical compliance with applicable regulatory and accrediting standards, including DHCS, Joint Commission, and ASAM criteria for residential levels of care.
  • Conducts chart audits, clinical reviews, and documentation quality checks to support audit readiness and ongoing improvement.
  • Helps identify trends, address deficiencies, and implement training or corrective action when needed.
  • Provides ongoing clinical supervision, mentorship, coaching, and professional development to therapists and clinical staff.
  • Supports employee performance, conducts evaluations, assists with corrective action when needed in partnership with HR, and contributes to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of clinical team members.
  • Fosters a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, teamwork, and consistency within a 24/7 environment.
  • Partners closely with the Program Director and Outpatient Clinical Director to align clinical services with operational workflows and overall program goals.
  • Collaborates with Nursing, Medical, Admissions, Behavioral Health Technicians, Program Managers, and other support staff to support coordinated, integrated care.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, case consultations, utilization reviews, discharge planning, and step-down coordination to support continuity of care.
