About The Position

The Residential Care Assistant (listed as Memory Care Aide and CNA) supports residents at Masonicare at Mystic with activities of daily living and personal care to maximize their independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. The role is based in assisted living and is scheduled for the night shift, 24 hours per week, every other weekend. The aide assists residents according to their age, needs, and abilities; supports instrumental daily activities and dining; cues residents in self-administering medications; and observes and reports changes in physical, cognitive, or emotional status. The position also involves resident rounds and room checks, documenting care and events, supporting resident-centered activities, advocating for residents, following confidentiality policies, communicating sensitively, and maintaining required certifications.

Requirements

CNA certification is required.
No experience is required.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care, including bathing, dressing, ambulation, toileting, meals, nourishment, hygiene, transfers, and care of personal assistive devices.
Assist residents with instrumental activities of daily living, including telephone calls, light housekeeping, laundry, escorting and transportation coordination, and mail or correspondence.
Cue residents as they self-administer medications.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the appropriate supervisor or director.
Conduct room checks during resident rounds, monitor for environmental safety hazards, record incidents, errors, and accidents, and document resident-related events.
Assist with dining tasks, including escorting residents, setup, cleanup, and serving meals.
Participate in and support the resident-centered activity program and complete required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during the shift.
Advocate for residents and follow agency confidentiality policies.
Use tactful, diplomatic communication in sensitive or emotionally charged situations and follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or others regarding concerns.
Serve as an ambassador to guests and off-campus visitors and maintain certifications required for employment.
Perform other duties as required.
