About The Position

The Memory Care Aide, whose official title is Residential Care Assistant, works at Masonicare at Mystic Assisted Living in Mystic, Connecticut. Certified Nursing Assistants assist residents with activities of daily living and personal care to maximize independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. This position is a night shift role working 24 hours per week, every other weekend.

Requirements

CNA certification is required.
No experience is required.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with essential activities of daily living and personal care based on their age, needs, and abilities, including bathing, dressing, ambulating, toileting, meals and nourishment, personal hygiene, transfers, and care of devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.
Assist residents with instrumental activities of daily living, including telephone calls, light housekeeping, laundry, escorts and internal transportation, and mail and correspondence.
Assist residents with self-administration of medications through cueing only.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition or cognitive and emotional status to the ALSA Supervisor or Director of Assisted Living Services, as needed.
Conduct room checks during resident rounds, monitor for environmental safety hazards, record incidents, errors, accidents, and resident-related events.
Assist with dining activities, including escorting residents, setup and cleanup, and serving meals.
Participate in and support the resident-centered activity program and complete required written documentation about resident care and activities during the shift.
Act as a resident advocate at all times.
Follow agency confidentiality policies.
Communicate tactfully and diplomatically in sensitive or emotionally charged situations, and follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or others regarding complaints, problems, and concerns.
Act as an ambassador to guests and other off-campus visitors.
Maintain certifications required for employment.
Perform other duties as required.
