About The Position

The Memory Care Aide, officially titled Residential Care Assistant, works in assisted living at Masonicare at Mystic in Mystic, Connecticut. The role assists residents with activities of daily living and personal care to maximize their independence, freedom of choice, and quality of life. This is a day-shift position scheduled for 32 hours per week, with every other weekend required. No experience is required, but CNA certification is required.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with essential activities of daily living and personal care according to their age, needs, and abilities, including bathing, dressing, ambulation, toileting, meals, personal hygiene, transfers, and care of assistive devices.
Assist residents with instrumental activities of daily living, including telephone calls, light housekeeping, laundry, escorting, transportation coordination, and mail and correspondence.
Assist residents with self-administration of medications through cueing only.
Observe and report changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the ALSA Supervisor or Director of Assisted Living Services as needed.
Conduct resident room checks and rounds, monitor environmental safety hazards, and record incidents, errors, accidents, and resident-related events.
Assist with dining tasks, including escorting residents, setting up and cleaning up, and serving meals.
Participate in and support the resident-centered activity program, and complete required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during the shift.
Act as a resident advocate at all times.
Follow agency confidentiality policies.
Communicate tactfully and diplomatically in sensitive or emotionally charged situations and follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or others about complaints, problems, and concerns.
Serve as an ambassador to guests and off-campus visitors.
Maintain certifications required for employment.
Perform other duties as required.
