About The Position

Alternatives, Inc. in South Bound Brook, NJ is looking to hire a full-time Residential Behavior Support Professional to support adults with developmental disabilities. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive difference in the community by supporting the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities to live with dignity and respect. The position involves supporting program staff and clients, assisting in the development and implementation of support plans, and helping clients achieve their personal goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in ABA or related field (i.e. Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, etc.)
  • At least one (1) year experience with completing Functional Behavior Assessments
  • At least one (1) year experience with Writing and Implementing Behavior Support Plans
  • At least one (1) year experience providing ongoing monitoring to all those expected to implement Behavior Support Plan strategies
  • At least one (1) year experience training caregivers in Behavior Support Plan Applied Behavior Analysis skills
  • Strong interpersonal & effective communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record & ability to transport clients.
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
  • Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
  • Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training

Responsibilities

  • Serves as shift supervisor in lieu of Manager and assistant manager
  • Supports program staff and clients by assisting in the development and implementation of all support plans, assisting clients in achieving their personal goals and desires, providing interaction and choices for activities that support a meaningful day, and supporting clients to be independent in activities of daily living.
  • Responsible for assisting clients in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly home by following safety and infection control procedures; educates clients about maintaining homes.
  • Assists in scheduling client appointments.
  • Provides necessary transportation adhering to the driving policies and standards of Alternatives, Inc.
  • Assists clients with fiscal management while safeguarding their funds. This may include reconciling accounts and assisting clients with spending choices.
  • Evaluates skills and needs of each individual receiving services and makes recommendations to Program Manager
  • Assists in planning and implementing client service plans with the Program Manager and Interdisciplinary Team
  • Assists with information gathering for personal outcome measures and other assessments
  • Supervises and assists clients in maintenance and upkeep of apartments or home, meal preparation, hygiene and other activities as needed
  • Implements client individualized training programs
  • Assists in planning and implementing Behavior Plans with Behavior Specialists, BCBA, Program Manager and IDT, when applicable
  • Reports and/or documents routine and unusual events including completing daily logs, accident reports, outcome data sheets, etc. in a concise, understandable, and legible manner
  • Ensures security of client residence, program, staff office, agency and vehicle key
  • Completes and maintains records as per agency policy and assigned by Program Manager
  • Availability to be contacted in emergency situations
  • Assists in training of clients in necessary areas
  • Assists Program Manager in maintaining contact with outside agencies providing services to individuals
  • Participates as a team member in planning, implementing and evaluating services provided by the program
  • Participates in & attends program & general staff meetings
  • Interpret functional behavioral assessments/analyses (FBA) of individuals with emotional and behavioral disturbances and/or developmentally challenged clients.
  • Implement interventions and strategies for decreasing problem behavior and teaching adaptive and functional communication skills.
  • Collect extensive and appropriate data and share findings with Behavior support team as needed.
  • Collaborate with behavior technicians’ staff in homes and other community based settings to train and implement behavior/treatment plans using techniques grounded in ABA and Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS) to promote the well-being and independence of the client served.
