About The Position
Alternatives, Inc. in South Bound Brook, NJ is looking to hire a part-time Behavior Technician to support adults with developmental disabilities. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive difference in the community by supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live with dignity and respect. The position involves supporting residents in a group home setting with daily living activities, implementing behavioral plans, teaching new skills, and facilitating community integration. The company has been providing support services for over 40 years and emphasizes a person-centered philosophy to promote independence and community integration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
- Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training
- Basic computer skills

Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
- Assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans.
- Teach new skills and help clients achieve goals using effective teaching and mentoring techniques.
- Encourage client interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities based on individual preferences and behavioral plans.
- Report any concerns about client health and safety.
- Keep documentation accurate and up-to-date.
