About The Position

Machias Savings Bank is seeking a Residential Banking Officer to join its Lending Team in the Central Market. The role provides responsive, relationship-focused mortgage and home equity lending services, helping customers navigate important financial decisions. The officer builds trusted relationships with customers and community partners, identifies financial solutions suited to individual needs, and supports the bank’s growth.

Requirements

Relationship-building and customer service skills, including the ability to develop trust and create a positive experience for customers and community partners.
Knowledge of residential mortgage and consumer lending, including mortgage origination, documentation, qualification, collateral analysis, and regulatory requirements.
Strong communication, business development, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through with urgency.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience working with loan origination and CRM systems.
NMLS registration is required based on role responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Originate mortgage and home equity loans and provide personalized service from application through closing.
Build relationships with customers, realtors, developers, attorneys, accountants, and other community partners to generate referrals and business opportunities.
Identify customers’ financial needs and recommend appropriate lending, deposit, and other bank products and services.
Provide an exceptional customer experience while maintaining accurate documentation, protecting confidential information, and complying with lending regulations and bank policies.
