About The Position

The Residential Aide assists clients and guests, coordinates their non-clinical needs, and supports the operation of the client care team. The role includes greeting clients, maintaining security, orienting clients to the program, engaging them in services, protecting client rights, promoting safety, and clarifying facility rules. The position is at Pugsley Hotel Family Shelter in the Bronx, which serves families experiencing homelessness.

Requirements

High school degree or GED preferred, with at least two years of relevant experience.
Valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record that meets agency policy preferred.
Professional oral and written communication with Spanish-speaking clients preferred.
Obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire; VOA will cover the cost.
Obtain Food Handler's Safety Certification within 90 days of hire; VOA will cover the cost.

Nice To Haves

Ability to communicate professionally, orally and in writing, with Spanish-speaking clients.

Responsibilities

Supervise front desk staff activities and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
Ensure proper documentation of front desk activities.
Monitor building safety and make scheduled rounds of assigned areas to safeguard clients and property.
Oversee client participation in daily program activities and provide customer service.
Arrange and transport clients to appointments, escort them to assigned apartments, and distribute linens and supplies.
Drive agency vehicles to transport clients, if assigned.
Accept new clients in the electronic records database.
Provide emergency response, including crisis management, first aid, CPR, and fire response as needed.
Complete incident reports according to the Program Manual and funder guidelines.
