About The Position

Horizon House is seeking a part-time Residential Advisor for its Developmental Services Division in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The role provides care and supervision to assigned residents, helping maintain a safe, healthy, secure, and pleasant environment that supports residents’ growth and development. The position also assists with Individual Program Plans, documents client progress, and supports residents in developing independence in self-care, daily living, socialization, and community living. This level is used when the population served has more challenging needs and a history of behavioral problems.

Requirements

Associate degree in social sciences or a health care-related field and one year of relevant experience in the mental health/intellectual disability field; prior experience implementing behavior management plans and/or supports; or a combination of education, experience, or training providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Very good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lift, carry, fold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop, and bend, potentially including direct intervention with residents.
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
May be required to have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, depending on facility location and client and program needs.
May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.

Responsibilities

Provide care and supervision of assigned residents to maintain a safe, healthy, secure, and pleasant environment that promotes and reinforces resident growth and development.
Assist in designing and implementing Individual Program Plans.
Document client progress as residents move through the service delivery system.
Advocate for resident growth toward independence in self-care, daily living skills, socialization, and community living.
