About The Position

The Residential Advisor provides a safe, supportive, and predictable dormitory environment for Job Corps trainees ages 16–24. The role supervises students’ daily activities, monitors their progress toward performance contract goals and objectives, and uses behavior management and intentional, consistent practices guided by core values. The Residential Advisor conducts dormitory operations according to center policies and procedures, maintains order and discipline, and helps students adjust to Center life through supervision, behavior modification, and mentoring. The position is on call for up to 29 hours per week and is covered by the Service Contract Act. The hourly rate is $19.00.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
Successfully complete a nationwide criminal background check; employment is contingent upon completion.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience in a related field such as counseling, education, social work, rehabilitation, or vocational guidance.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

Provide daily dormitory supervision to students ages 16–24 and maintain good order and discipline.
Ensure dormitories are supervised 24 hours a day and residents follow all rules, policies, and procedures.
Maintain 100% accountability of residents and make logbook entries documenting significant events during the shift.
Help students adjust to Center life through supervision, behavior modification, and mentoring.
Monitor student progress toward performance contract goals and objectives.
Conduct dormitory operations in accordance with center operating policies and procedures.
Document student records according to PRH and enter relevant student data.
