26-1643 Resident Technician AMHS/SIP
About The Position
CMHA-CEI is seeking a Resident Technician to assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness residing in a residential or supported independent living setting. The role involves implementing skill acquisition plans, understanding stages of change and substance use disorders, and aiming to maximize resident independence. The technician will act as a resource and referral for residents, provide transportation as needed, and assist with daily living skills, symptom management, de-escalation, documentation, and community participation. The position also requires attending mandatory staff meetings and in-service training.
Requirements
- Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training (All training is paid and completed through CMHA-CEI).
- Must be able to understand written instructions.
- Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
- Must be able to read and follow medication charts.
- Candidate will provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Must be physically able to do lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures.
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Access to reliable transportation for job related use.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Implement skill acquisition plans.
- Understand the stages of change and substance use disorders as it relates to each individual’s plan of service.
- Assist individuals to be as independent as possible.
- Act as a resource and referral for residents to meet their needs.
- Provide transportation with agency vehicle or personal vehicle, when needed, to and from day and evening activities, appointments, social, religious and recreational activities, and community inclusionary activities as assigned.
- Support mental illness symptoms management.
- Train and assist residents in daily living skills such as medication management; personal care; interpersonal communication skills; cleaning; meal preparation and laundry.
- Assist with de-escalation skills.
- Maintain required documentation.
- Assist residents in participation in community activities.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
