About The Position

The Resident Support Manager is responsible for leading the Center's program services team in assuring active treatment and related services are delivered with a high degree of quality in a truly homelike environment in which MCC residents live with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Programs Manager is charged with championing the Guiding Principles and mission of the Center in a manner that ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations. The Resident Support Manager must be a positive role model who reliably works, effectively, efficiently, and with respect for residents, respites, staff, families, volunteers, professional consultants, and the physical environment of The Center.

Requirements

  • Must be a good person of high character who demonstrates compassion and understanding, consistently works with a positive attitude and advocates effectively on behalf of residents who have varying degrees of disabilities.
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in an allied health/services field or in a related field of recreation, exercise & fitness, or physical education.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years leadership experience.
  • Previous experience in PD and Aquatics.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Supervisory experience and be capable of effectively supervising and training staff, interns and volunteers.
  • Be 21 years or older.
  • Have a clean driving record with at least 3 years driving experience.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in utilizing technology tools to manage documentation and program reporting.
  • Experience in writing, implementing and evaluating individualized program plans.
  • Ability to manage multiple disciplines within all departments noted above.
  • Working knowledge of pool chemistry.
  • Must have Lifeguard Certification.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Certified Pool Operator certification.
  • Must complete requirements for National Certified Activity Professional.
  • Must participate in MOD rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing and hiring staff in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring staff receive a thorough orientation to the duties and responsibilities assigned.
  • Participating in New Hire Orientation as requested by Human Resource Department.
  • Managing staff schedules and authorizing appropriate payroll documents.
  • Conducting department and calendar planning meetings.
  • Providing guidance and oversight to members of Activities, Aquatics, PD, Transportation.
  • Completing annual performance appraisals of assigned direct reports.
  • Scheduling and leading annual department staff trainings.
  • Ensuring that all staff possess current licensure and certification.
  • Continuing to evaluate programs on an ongoing basis and challenge the team to ensure appropriate, quality and innovative programs for the residents, activities, aquatics, PD, transportation.
  • Reviewing and auditing charts to ensure compliance with State and Federal licensing; provide coverage for direct reports documentation when unavailable.
  • Working with Aquatics Specialist to assure compliance with Delaware Board of Health code for operating pools and hot tubs in relation to safety and water quality.
  • Monitoring the quality of active treatment programs and Individual Program plans as outlined in MCC policies and procedures.
  • Providing IPP policies and procedures trainings as needed.
  • Overseeing the policies & procedures pertaining to oversight of departments areas as directed.
  • Conducting regular audits and program observations; provides reports.
  • Providing direction & assistance to the Program Specialists with completing annual Comprehensive Functional Assessments (CFAs), developing goals and objectives according to IPP policies and procedures as needed.
  • Collaborating with other program services to promote active treatment programming.
  • Writing and submitting for approval Plans of Correction (POC's) for any active treatment related survey deficiencies.
  • Participating in annual budget development process.
  • Keeping approved expenditures within budgeted levels by monitoring expenses throughout the year for each department.
  • Ensuring that all departmental equipment/supplies are in good working order and current with any regulatory requirements.
  • Approving purchase orders per policy.
  • Ensuring that the Transportation Coordinator has all MCC vehicles regularly inspected and in good working order to ensure safety for residents and staff.
  • Assisting with medical appointments arrangements and coverage details as needed.
  • Assisting and or completing monthly 5310 report.
  • Acting as the primary liaison regarding Program Services at the Center and communicating regularly with residents, families, and the Interdisciplinary Team regarding questions or concerns.
  • Participating in Manager-on-Duty rotation.
  • In the event of an emergency, reporting to The Center to provide support, direction and leadership, stepping in during the absence of direct reports and providing interim coverage.
  • Serving as a member of Quality Assessment and Assurance (QAA), Safety, Active Treatment and Wellness Committees.
  • Understanding and enforcing operating policies.
  • Completing all mandatory in-services and attending staff meetings as required.
  • Assisting with planning, organizing, and implementing a diverse set of Physical Development programs suited to the unique needs, abilities and interests of residents and respite care participants.
  • Remaining aware of resident's physical abilities/limitations/changes in medical situations and reporting any change in resident's condition to the Neighborhood Nurse.
  • Conducting quarterly check-ins with direct reports to assess progress on department and individual goals.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
