About The Position

King County Housing Authority (KCHA) is seeking a talented, resourceful, and passionate Resident Services Coordinator to serve households in the Southwest Region of King County, specifically in White Center and surrounding areas. This role aims to assist residents by providing information and referrals to community resources, fostering community engagement, and supporting resident stability and independence. The Resident Services Coordinator will work with residents, acting as a liaison between residents, KCHA Property Management, and local service agencies. The successful candidate will provide resource and referral services to Family and Mixed Population (senior/disabled) Public Housing residents and will coordinate community-building events and activities to promote resident engagement. This involves outreach on properties and collaboration with property management and outside agencies. This position will be based in the SW Region, working closely with residents and local agencies. Some remote work may be authorized after the initial probation period. Maintaining client confidentiality and documenting all resident contact in client software systems, including ETO, is an essential function. Familiarity with data entry and documentation is required. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with degrees preferred in social work, human services, public administration or related field AND Considerable experience (3+ to 5 years) in social work, early education, housing programs and/or community development programming OR An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, and practices used to organize, implement, and monitor resident service programs and support for implementation of individual/family supportive services and programs.
  • Interacts effectively with others to establish and maintain positive working relationships; demonstrates techniques for building community partnerships.
  • Applies effective written and verbal communication techniques to convey clear and timely messages to internal and external stakeholders; listens to people's ideas and concerns.
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively; remains professional, calm, and tactful in stressful situations while adhering to a high standard of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality; knowledge of basic de-escalation and mediation skills.

  • Must be able to travel regularly between work sites as required to perform the essential functions of the position and have a reliable means of transportation to meet those travel requirements.
  • A valid driver's license may be required for positions where driving is an essential job function AND/OR Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel regularly between work sites as required to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Employees must have access to reliable means of transportation that enables them to meet the travel requirements of the position.
  • Final candidates may be required to complete a criminal background check in accordance with applicable law.
  • Employees must reside in Washington State and having the ability to report to the Central Office in Tukwila will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with KCHA staff and Public Housing participants to support resident stability.
  • Assess resident needs and provide information about and referrals to social services; provide information and connect participants to programs and services that will help participants achieve their goals; help residents apply for and maintain social services and entitlements.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community partners to ensure residents have access to information, services, and assistance for which they qualify; act as a liaison between local community governmental agencies, community councils, individuals and residents.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and document all resident contact in client software systems including ETO.
  • Coordinate, plan, and implement community events (e.g., summer BBQ, resource fairs, community network meetings and learning workshops), as KCHA policy allows. This requires following KCHA guidelines and VRT policies. Community and partner meetings through Zoom and resident meetings over the phone are an acceptable alternative.
  • Meet with residents to discuss their situation and help problem solve; assist residents in identifying and resolving challenges and issues.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of goals, work plans, performance measures, and continuous improvement of service delivery to assist in attaining the program initiatives and goals, agency core strategies, and mission.
  • Use data tracking software/systems (OnBase, ETO, TenMast and Yardi) to input participant data on a regular basis; access data and verify accuracy of data on a regular basis.
  • Complete all required paperwork, documentation and maintain participant files per department standards.
