About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking a Part-Time Resident Monitor for the weekend shift (4:00 PM - 12:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays) at The Triumph in Southeast DC. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment within our Short-Term Family Housing program. The ideal candidate will be reliable, friendly, and professional, with a passion for supporting families and individuals in need of healthcare, housing, and community-based services. As an essential team member, you will monitor building security, greet residents and visitors, and report any concerns to the appropriate staff. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write shift and incident reports in detail.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Hope sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a residential environment.
  • Experience working with the homeless population.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors community areas within the building, including the lobby, phone room, and exterior areas, to prevent loitering and ensure safety.
  • Conducts regular rounds throughout the building.
  • Monitors security cameras for activity in and around the building and addresses issues as needed.
  • Ensures all visitors, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and residents are signed in and out.
  • Documents staff arrivals and departures in the shift log.
  • Checks photo ID of all visitors.
  • Provides traffic control to limit crowding in the lobby.
  • Completes curfew checks each night by knocking on unit doors and documenting resident presence.
  • Inquires about the whereabouts of children if they are not present during curfew checks and documents this information.
  • Emails and/or calls the Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits (Police, CFSA, Social Services, probation and parole, case workers, etc.).
  • Fills out incident reports to document unusual and difficult incidents involving residents, facility issues, fire, rescue, and other emergencies.
  • Offers additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, especially during emergencies.
  • Provides access to the building by screening individuals who ring the call button.
  • Processes visitors by checking their ID, having them sign in, and contacting the appropriate COH staff for escort.
  • Monitors Closed Circuit TV security footage and reports/responds immediately to suspected or apparent security violations by notifying SPO and Program Director and/or calling emergency services.
  • De-ices the front walkway by salting and shoveling when inclement weather occurs.
