About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking a reliable, friendly, and professional Resident Monitor to ensure the safety and welcoming atmosphere of their Short-Term Family Housing program. As essential staff, the Resident Monitor will be responsible for building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting any concerns to the appropriate team members. This role is crucial in supporting the organization's mission of providing healthcare, housing, and community support services to families and individuals in need. The position is located at The Triumph in Southeast DC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write shift and incident reports in detail.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Hope sites.

  • Experience working in a residential environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor community areas within the building, including the lobby, phone room, and exterior areas, to prevent loitering and ensure building security.
  • Conduct regular rounds throughout the building.
  • Monitor security cameras for activity in and around the building and address issues as needed.
  • Ensure all visitors, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and residents are signed in and out, documenting their entries and exits in the shift log.
  • Check photo identification of all visitors.
  • Provide traffic control to limit crowding in the lobby.
  • Complete curfew checks each night by knocking on unit doors and documenting resident presence, inquiring about the whereabouts of children if not present, and documenting this information.
  • Email and/or call the Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits (Police, CFSA, Social Services, probation and parole, case workers, etc.).
  • Complete incident reports to document unusual or difficult incidents involving residents, facility issues, fire, rescue, or other emergencies immediately after the incident has been controlled and email the report to the Program Director or On-Call Supervisor.
  • Offer additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, during all times and emergencies.
  • Provide access to the building by screening individuals who ring the call button.
  • Process visitors by checking their ID, having them sign in, and contacting the appropriate COH staff for escort.
  • Monitor Closed Circuit TV security footage and report/respond immediately to suspected or apparent security violations by notifying SPO and Program Director and/or calling emergency services.
  • De-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling the front area during inclement weather.
