About The Position

The Resident Liaison will establish relationships with local service providers and community agencies to help link residents to necessary services. This role involves assisting residents in navigating the local service provider network, identifying options when required care levels exceed available community services, and coordinating educational programs. The liaison will also be responsible for creating and distributing a monthly newsletter, maintaining resident files, and reporting suspected abuse. Additionally, the role includes providing training to property management staff, conducting resident assessments, and coordinating with hospital staff on discharge planning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and maintain resident confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with a diverse population and group of personalities.
  • Understanding of social service funding, eligibility and access to community services.
  • Understanding of the neighborhood and available services.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Previous experience as a Social Service Coordinator or Resident Liaison.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • The employee must be capable of adapting, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished, with no diminishment in work performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree in Social Work, Counseling, other social science major.

Responsibilities

  • Establish relationship with local service providers.
  • Develop liaisons with community agencies to help link residents to services needed.
  • Assist resident to identify options if a resident requires a level of care not available through community services.
  • Assist residents with navigating local service provider and agency network.
  • Provide quarterly updates of services provided to Owner and Director of Social Services including calendar of events and noting resident attendance.
  • Work with ERES to set up educational programs and relevant programs.
  • Form an activity committee among residents and interested parties.
  • Report suspected abuse to proper agencies.
  • Create and educate residents on services available by sharing “Community Resource Manual”.
  • Maintain resident files in secure area to ensure confidentiality.
  • Create and distribute monthly property newsletter.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences within the resident population.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality.
  • Report all instances of abuse or neglect and takes proactive steps to protect residents.
  • Participate in overall planning for activities at the property.
  • Obtain needed items for residents through agencies.
  • Assist resident in securing needed items in their homes.
  • Provide training to property management staff on identifying and working with specific types of physical or mental disabling conditions, applicable fair housing rules, etc.
  • With resident approval, conduct an in-depth assessment and create “Case Management Plan”.
  • Cooperate in appropriate legal proceedings when necessary.
  • Coordinate with hospital staff regarding discharges planning for residents returning to their apartments.
  • Identify education and health programs to enhance the residents’ quality of life.
