About The Position
Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Resident in Counseling for its new inpatient detox and residential facility in North Chesterfield, Virginia. Avenues operates a nationwide network of addiction treatment centers offering detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient services. The role conducts group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups tailored to clients’ challenges and needs. The counselor supports clients in developing coping skills and recovery tools, collaborates with clinical staff on client progress, escalates significant concerns to the Clinical Director, and completes session documentation, clinical assessments, and client charting.
Requirements
- Valid licensure necessary to practice as a clinician in Virginia: CSAC.
- Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills.
- Strong presence and sound judgment.
- Warm, dignified, and honest character that inspires trust and models recovery principles.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience in the treatment industry preferred.
- If in recovery, a minimum of one year of sustained sobriety is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs.
- Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools.
- Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to track client challenges and progress.
- Escalate significant client concerns to the Clinical Director.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted.
- Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting are completed.
