About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Resident in Counseling (described in the posting as a Group Counselor) for its inpatient detox and residential facility in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The role supports clients in addiction treatment through group-based clinical services, recovery skill development, collaboration with clinical staff, and clinical documentation.

Requirements

• Valid licensure necessary to practice as a clinician in Virginia: CSAC.
• If in recovery, at least one year of sustained sobriety.
• Excellent interpersonal, observational, and communication skills.
• Strong presence and sound judgment.
• Warm, dignified, and honest character that inspires trust and models recovery principles.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field preferred.
• At least one year of experience in the treatment industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups tailored to clients’ challenges and needs.
• Help clients develop healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools.
• Collaborate regularly with clinical staff to track client challenges and progress.
• Escalate significant client concerns to the Clinical Director.
• Maintain thorough documentation of group sessions.
• Ensure clinical assessments and individual client charting are completed.
