About The Position

The Resident Director position is a supervisory role that requires leadership skills, good judgment, energy, commitment, self-discipline, knowledge of campus resources, and sensitivity to cultural differences. The Resident Director assists the Area Coordinator, works collaboratively with and supervises the area staff, advises hall governments, and serves as a resource to residents to foster a strong, positive, and respectful community within their assigned area. This role requires the individual to be a role model and leader.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
  • Must be a full-time student and maintain a minimum of 12 (bachelor's) or 6 (master's) credit hours.
  • Must maintain good standing with Mercer University and the appropriate academic college.
  • Must maintain good judicial standing with the University and the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
  • Must comply with all departmental, university, local, state, and federal policies and laws.
  • Must meet a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
  • Must meet a 2.5 semester grade point average throughout their term of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Area Coordinator.
  • Works collaboratively with and supervises area staff.
  • Advises hall governments.
  • Serves as a resource to residents to develop a strong positive and respectful community in their area.
  • Live on campus in assigned apartment.
