About The Position

The Resident Director position is a supervisory role that requires leadership skills, good judgment, energy, commitment, self-discipline, knowledge of campus resources, and sensitivity to cultural differences. The Resident Director assists the Area Coordinator, works collaboratively with and supervises the area staff, advises the hall governments, and serves as a resource to residents to develop a strong, positive, and respectful community in their area. This position requires the individual to be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree, maintain a minimum credit hour load (12 for bachelor's, 6 for master's), be in good standing with Mercer University and their academic college, and maintain good judicial standing. The Resident Director must comply with all departmental, university, local, state, and federal policies and laws, live on campus in an assigned apartment, and meet a minimum 2.5 cumulative and semester grade point average throughout their term of employment.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
  • Must be a full-time student.
  • Maintain a minimum of 12 (bachelor's) or 6 (master's) credit hours.
  • Maintain good standing with Mercer University and the appropriate academic college.
  • Maintain good judicial standing with the University and the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
  • Comply with all departmental, university, local, state, federal policies and laws.
  • Live on campus in assigned apartment.
  • Meet a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
  • Meet a minimum 2.5 semester grade point average throughout their term of employment.
  • Complete an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) and present documentation verifying citizenship or permanent residency.
