The Resident Director (RD) role involves core responsibilities focused on crisis management, emergency response, RA staff management, community development, student care and conduct case management, and participation in the Residential and Dining Services Management Team. RDs provide individual advising, crisis intervention, and referrals to campus and community resources. They are responsible for supporting residents with medical/mental health concerns and collaborating with various external agencies. A key aspect of the role is serving on an on-call rotation to provide emergency support for RAs and residents. The RD also manages and develops RA staff through supervision, evaluations, and training, fostering a positive and supportive living environment. This includes guiding RAs in community building, facilitating discussions on sensitive topics, and managing a discretionary budget. In student care and conduct, RDs manage cases, review reports, implement sanctions, and ensure due process and privacy. They also play a role in the selection, training, and ongoing development of RA staff and actively participate in departmental meetings and initiatives. Additional duties may include operating a college vehicle and serving on committees.
