About The Position

Modern Family Law (MFL) is a growing national law firm focused on Family Law. They are looking for 3Ls and recent graduates who will be taking the February 2027 or July 2027 Bar exam to join their MFL Academy’s Residency Program. This program is available in their Georgia offices located in Atlanta and Savannah. The role is hybrid, requiring candidates to sit for the Bar exam and plan to live in the state where they are applying. After the Bar exam, residents will undergo training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy, with mentorship from the MFL Learning & Development department and legal teams. This mentorship aims to help them transition into an MFL Associate Attorney role upon passing the Bar.

Requirements

  • Must be a 3L or recent graduate sitting for the February 2027 Bar exam or the July 2027 Bar exam.
  • Must plan to reside in the state where applying.
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Register for the upcoming February or July Bar exam.
  • Attain a passing score on the MPRE before sitting for the Bar exam.
  • Timely submission and approval of Character & Fitness application by the State Bar.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple responsibilities with attention to detail.
  • Work as part of a team in a respectful and growth-oriented environment.
  • Be eager to learn, grow, practice, and incorporate feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Family Law Clinics is a plus.
  • Mock Trial experience is a plus.
  • Submission of cover letter, law school transcript, and responses to candidate questionnaire.

Responsibilities

  • Receive training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy.
  • Receive mentorship from the MFL Learning & Development department and legal teams.
  • Successfully transition to an MFL Associate Attorney position upon passing the Bar.
  • Direct client contact and case management on matters involving divorce, child custody, financial support, and more.
  • Practice and develop litigation skills as first chair early in career.
  • Manage caseload and communication using cutting-edge technology.
  • Complete training and develop skills in client conversion.
  • Proactively study, build confidence, ask questions, complete assignments, and prepare to handle client matters from start to finish upon completion of Residency.
