About The Position

Resident Assistants are an essential part of American House’s wellness team. Under the direction and supervision of an RN or LPN, they provide basic personal assistance to residents to support functional independence and psychosocial wellness. The role supports seniors’ daily care needs and community activities while helping create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment. Resident Assistants build meaningful relationships with residents and help them live with dignity, comfort, and independence.

Requirements

• Previous caregiving, senior living, or healthcare experience is required.
• A passion for serving seniors and a compassionate, patient approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–50 lbs as needed for resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and report observations to leadership.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities, programs, and social events.
• Follow individualized care plans to provide person-centered care.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident apartments and common areas.
• Support residents with meals, hydration, and light housekeeping.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, and team members.
• Support new resident orientation and help new residents feel welcome in the community.
