About The Position

The Resident Assistant, Medication Aide provides care and services to long-term care residents in a caring, safe, and efficient manner, following location standards and procedures. Duties include supporting medication self-administration and, with proper training, administering medications. The role also assists residents with activities of daily living, monitors vital signs and reports changes in health status, and helps maintain clean and safe resident spaces.

Requirements

Complete and maintain the assigned medication administration training program and competencies according to state guidelines.
Meet the minimum state age requirement if working at a facility that uses lifts to move residents.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with self-administration of medications and administer medications when properly trained.
Help residents maintain a clean and proper appearance, including bathing and personal hygiene.
Assist residents with toileting, dressing, and undressing.
Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking.
Obtain vital signs accurately and report changes in residents' health status.
Follow OSHA and CDC guidelines and use aseptic cleaning techniques, including precautions for bloodborne pathogens.
Use chemicals safely and follow SDS guidelines in the event of exposure.
Prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals and snacks in accordance with orders, standards, and regulations.
Fold, hang, and distribute clean linens and personal clothing; prepare and launder soiled linens and clothing.
Clean residents' rooms and bathrooms, work areas, and public areas.
Participate in community involvement at the location and work with volunteers.
