About The Position

The Resident Assistant, Medication Aide provides care and services to residents in a caring, safe, and efficient manner, following location standards and procedures. Duties include assisting with medication self-administration and, with proper training, administering medications; supporting residents with activities of daily living; monitoring vital signs and reporting changes in health status; and helping maintain a clean and safe environment. The role also supports meals, laundry, housekeeping, and community involvement.

Requirements

Complete and maintain the assigned medication administration training program and competencies according to state guidelines.
Meet the minimum state age requirement if working at a facility that uses lifts to move residents.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with self-administration of medications and administer medications when properly trained.
Help residents maintain a proper, clean appearance, including bathing and personal hygiene.
Assist residents with toileting, dressing and undressing, transferring, repositioning, and walking.
Accurately obtain vital signs and report changes in residents’ health status.
Follow OSHA and CDC infection-prevention guidance, including aseptic cleaning techniques and precautions for bloodborne pathogens.
Use chemicals safely and follow SDS guidelines in the event of exposure.
Prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals and snacks according to orders, standards, and regulations.
Fold, hang, and distribute clean linens and personal clothing; prepare and launder soiled linens and clothing.
Clean residents’ rooms and bathrooms, work areas, and other public areas.
Participate in community involvement at the location and work with volunteers.
