Resident Assistant, Community of Scholars (Student)
About The Position
Join the American University School of International Service (SIS) as a Resident Assistant (RA) for our two-week Community of Scholars (CoS) pre-college program. Help high school students have an amazing campus experience! Previous RA experience is a plus, but all motivated candidates are encouraged to apply. This position is available only to enrolled American University students. Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. Requirements
- Current undergraduate or graduate student.
- Strong communicator and team player.
- Able to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Previous RA experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Be the go-to contact for about 10 students.
- Keep students informed and engaged with program events.
- Chaperone afternoon visits and evening activities.
- Supervise free time and study periods.
- Handle student concerns and emergencies.
- Participate in weekend activities (July 11–12).
- Rotate on-call shifts for mornings and nights.
