About The Position

The Resident Advisor provides oversight of Our House residents, buildings and grounds to ensure compliance with Our House policies and procedures and reports to the Program Lead when there is an issue or problem. To successfully perform as a Resident Advisor (RA) the RA may be expected to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year working or volunteering with youth
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certificates.
  • Pass a drug screen and random drug screens
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish rapport, and relate sensitively and with consistency to multiracial and multicultural groups of young adults
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate beginner to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Abide by all Our House guidelines provided by BCFS HHS for the RA position.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor residents for compliance with Our House guidelines and program policies and procedures daily
  • Document and report non-compliances with Our House guidelines and program policies and procedures to Program Lead as they occur
  • Evaluate, document and report Our House building and grounds issues and problems as needed
  • Build and maintain a positive relationship with the Our House residents
  • Communicate to Program Lead and Regional Director and/or designated BCFS HHS employee regarding any incidents at Our House or involving Our House residents.
  • Document all incidents
  • Implement BCFS safety protocols in an emergency.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the program operations.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards including demonstrating respect for agency staff, Our House residents and community members.
  • Maintain a maintenance request system with the assistance of the Program Lead.
  • Schedule, facilitate and document weekly inspection of resident apartments and grounds as outlined and determined by the Program Lead and Regional Director.
  • Supervise scheduled appointments for facility repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Assist residents with “teachable moment” life skills development.
  • Monitor behavior and, if questionable or unsafe, contact the Police or Program Lead and Regional Director as needed.
  • Assist the Program Lead with preparing the residence for new residents and cleaning after resident’s departure.
  • Other duties as assigned.
