About The Position

Vituity is seeking an Emergency Medicine Core Faculty member for their residency program in Fresno, CA. This role involves teaching and advising residents and fellows, supporting the Residency Program Director, and ensuring compliance with ACGME and other accrediting agency requirements. The faculty member will be responsible for delivering an engaging curriculum, overseeing faculty and coordinators, participating in resident recruitment and assessment, and maintaining clinical activity. Key responsibilities include mentoring residents, fostering an educational environment, ensuring safe patient care, promoting inquiry in the clinical setting, evaluating residents, participating in quality improvement initiatives, modeling professional behavior, and conducting scholarly activity. The position requires a physician with ABMS certification or eligibility, an active medical license, and Physician Partner status with Vituity. Experience in leadership and mentorship of residents is required, along with proficiency in software applications and a strong understanding of accreditation policies. Excellent teaching, communication, collaboration, and professionalism skills are essential.

Requirements

  • Physician with current, valid American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certification or eligibility in relevant field/specialty and an active unrestrictive state license to practice medicine by the state medical board required.
  • Licensed physician as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) required.
  • Maintain membership and privileges on Hospital’s medical staff and comply with and abide by the bylaws, rules and regulations, and the policies and procedures of Hospital’s medical staff where services are being provided required.
  • Physician Partner status required.
  • Experience with leadership/mentorship of residents required.
  • Clinical and academic experience to ensure effective implementation of the ACGME program requirements.
  • Proficient working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Ability to facilitate networking opportunities and create an environment that fosters mentorship and promotes the career advancement of Physician fellows.
  • Comprehensive and detailed understanding of national accreditation policies, educational administration, and hospital policies.
  • Ability to stay updated with the latest advancements, new developments, research, guidelines, and best practices in the relevant field/specialty.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at providing excellent patient care.
  • Strong teaching skills to effectively educate and mentor resident physicians.
  • Ability to communicate complex medical concepts in a clear and concise manner, use various teaching methods and techniques, and provide constructive feedback to support residents' learning and professional development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Active listening skills and the ability to provide clear instructions and feedback and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching/advising residents and fellows.
  • Working closely with and supporting the Residency Program Director.
  • Following program requirements in accordance with the ACGME and all other accrediting agencies.
  • Supporting and delivering an engaging learning curriculum.
  • Ensuring that Residency Programs meet all state, federal, and other regulations and guidelines and comply with ACGME standards.
  • Overseeing and engaging with all Residency Core Faculty, Clinical faculty, and Program Coordinators.
  • Actively participating in recruitment and selection of new residents for admission to the program.
  • Assessing performance of residents regularly.
  • Being a participating member of the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).
  • Annually completing the ACGME faculty survey.
  • Remaining clinically active.
  • Mentoring and coaching residents, advising them regarding their career and educational goals.
  • Administering and maintaining an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas.
  • Ensuring safe patient care at all participating sites.
  • Creating an environment of inquiry in the clinical setting.
  • Evaluating residents in a timely manner using competency based/milestone evaluations and via direct observation and other relevant evaluation methods.
  • Participating in Quality improvement and Patient Safety initiatives.
  • Modeling professional behavior and effectively leading the multidisciplinary team within the system of care delivery.
  • Performing an adequate amount of scholarly activity including participation in national organizations and committees and research at the direction of the Residency Program Director.
