About The Position

Devereux Connecticut is seeking an experienced and compassionate Residence Manager to lead and oversee its Children’s Step‑Up/Step‑Down Program. This is a short‑term, highly structured residential program for children and adolescents, ages 8 to 21, with intellectual and developmental disabilities who require a temporary increase in support due to transition, destabilization or assessment needs. The program provides a safe, supportive, and structured environment for enhanced supervision, targeted skill-building, and individualized planning, focusing on stabilization, assessment, and the development of a clear transition plan aligned with DDS recommendations and next‑step placement needs. The length of stay is goal‑driven and individualized based on each child or adolescent’s needs and progress.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 1 year of progressive experience in a residential setting that programs for the special needs individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; leadership, relationship management, and multi-tasking skills are required.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Strongly prefer previous supervisory experience.
  • Have a strong passion for working with and helping children with special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures proper staffing ratio throughout assigned residence.
  • Oversees compliance with CT DDS regulation of assigned residence.
  • Ensures staff assigned to the house receive necessary training.
  • Oversees both the daily operation and all procedural routines of assigned residence.
  • Ensures that Treatment Team and treatment planning meetings are prepared for and attended.
  • Monitors residence documentation requirements and trains and schedules program staff in documentation duties.
  • Maintains medication administration certification, as well as training mandates.
  • Ensures that recreational schedules are submitted to Community Rec. Coordinator.
  • Is responsible for assisting residence staff in crisis situations.
  • Assists the Program Director as directed.
