About The Position

The Residence Counselor provides services to adults diagnosed with mental illness who live in a group home. The role supports residents’ rehabilitation, daily living, socialization, safety, and independence while helping maintain a healthy, clean living environment.

This is a part-time position scheduled for 32 hours per week. The stated schedule is Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.; Sunday and Monday are off. Compensation is $21.46 per hour, with an annual equivalent of $35,709.44. Employment offers are contingent on successfully completing background checks.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Demonstrated ability to help others.
• Valid and insurable driver’s license.
• Experience working with people diagnosed with mental illness or other human services experience.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organization and good time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive counseling to residents.
• Teach rehabilitation and daily living skills, including medication management and coping skills.
• Provide crisis intervention and prevention.
• Organize recreational activities to promote socialization and reduce stress.
• Maintain a healthy and clean environment for clients by ensuring chores are completed correctly and assisting with cleaning activities.
