About The Position

Mohawk Opportunities is seeking a part-time Residence Counselor to provide services to adults with a diagnosis of mental illness who live in a group home. The role supports residents in developing skills and achieving stable community living and independence. The position offers a supportive work environment, staff training, benefits, generous paid time off, and a 30-minute paid meal break.

The Jones Home schedule is Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.; Sunday through Tuesday are off. The position is 32 hours per week and pays $21.46 per hour, with a stated annual equivalent of $35,709.44. Employment offers are contingent on successful completion of background checks.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Demonstrated ability to help others.
• Valid and insurable driver’s license.
• Experience working with people diagnosed with mental illness or other human services experience.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organization and good time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive counseling.
• Teach rehabilitation and daily living skills, including medication management and coping skills.
• Provide crisis intervention and prevention.
• Organize recreation activities to promote socialization and reduce stress.
• Maintain a healthy, clean environment for clients by ensuring chores are completed correctly and assisting with cleaning activities.
