About The Position

Dominion House is seeking a part-time Residence Counselor to provide services to adults with a diagnosis of mental illness living in a group home. This role focuses on verbal engagement, supportive counseling, and teaching life skills, without personal care or physical restraints. The position offers a supportive work environment where employees are valued, and the company is committed to helping individuals with mental illness achieve stable community living and independence.

Requirements

College classes in human services, BA preferred.
Demonstrated ability in helping others.
Valid and insurable driver's license.
Must have a personal vehicle to use for business purposes when not transporting clients.
Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of mental illness or other human service experience.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to be organized and have good time management skills.
Must have successfully completed background checks.

Responsibilities

Provide supportive counseling.
Provide rehabilitation skills such as teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention.
Engage in recreation activities for socialization and stress reduction.
Maintain a healthy and clean environment for clients, ensuring they correctly complete chores and assisting with cleaning activities.
Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.
Provide transportation to clients using agency vehicles.
