About The Position

Imperial is seeking a Reservoir Engineer (EIT) to join their Cold Lake operation. This role will leverage reservoir engineering insights, forecasting, and economic analysis to identify and advance brownfield infill drilling and production optimization opportunities. The Cold Lake operation is an in-situ oil sands operation in northern Alberta, utilizing and piloting next-generation solvent technologies to improve production and lower greenhouse gas emissions intensity. It is one of the longest running oil sands operations in northeastern Alberta and one of the largest in-situ thermal operations globally, supplying crude to refineries across Canada and the United States. The operation has approximately 400 employees and 1,000 contractors.

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering required – preferably Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical
  • Eligible for registration or registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer with APEGA
  • 2-4 years heavy oil reservoir experience
  • Understanding of thermal recovery processes and well performance analysis
  • Experience with reservoir surveillance, economic analysis, and production forecasting
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and manage time pressures and changing priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with thermal (CSS, Steamflood, SAGD) or heavy-oil cold flow operations
  • Experience with infill drilling opportunity generation and evaluation
  • Experience with reservoir simulation and analytical forecasting
  • Reserves evaluation experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with geoscience, reservoir, facilities engineering, and operations teams to identify, mature, and execute drilling opportunities, driving the process from opportunity generation to well start-up and operation.
