Contract Petroleum/Reservoir Engineer

Hunt Services CompanyDallas, TX
Hybrid

About The Position

Provide integrated petroleum engineering support across international conventional assets, with exposure to unconventional projects on a limited basis. Apply reservoir engineering and management principles to optimize production and recovery across operated and non-operated assets. Evaluate greenfield and brownfield fields and provide fit to purpose development analysis. Evaluate and recommend oil and gas reservoir exploitation strategies including enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and monitor their application and performance. Contribute to reservoir characterization and simulation efforts, including building and running static and simulation models, in support of development planning. Collaborate with geoscience, drilling, facilities, production and operations teams to ensure integrated subsurface solutions and field-level decision-making. Support asset operations, reserves estimation, well performance analysis, and model project economics as required. Engage with field operations personnel and in-country teams to bridge technical and operational activities. Travel internationally on an as-needed basis to interact with operations teams primarily in South America and the Middle East.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in reservoir engineering fundamentals: material balance, decline curve analysis, pressure transient analysis (PTA), and rate transient analysis (RTA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enhanced oil recovery techniques including waterflooding, gas injection, chemical EOR, and related surveillance and optimization practices.
  • Working knowledge of reservoir modeling and simulation; experience with industry-standard tools (Petrel RE, Eclipse, Intersect, T-Navigator or similar).
  • Understanding and application of petroleum geology and petrophysical principles as they apply to reservoir characterization and development.
  • Field-level operations experience with the ability to integrate production engineering and operational insights into reservoir management strategies.
  • Proficiency with industry engineering tools such as ARIES, PHDWin, Petex (Prosper/MBAL/Gap/Resolve), Kappa, IHS Harmony, or similar packages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AI, analytical and data visualization tools (Copilot, Claude, Spotfire, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively within integrated project teams (IPTs) spanning reservoir engineering, geoscience, drilling, and operations disciplines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish or Arabic is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or closely related engineering discipline (required).
  • Minimum of 10 years of petroleum/reservoir engineering experience, with meaningful exposure to field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience working on international conventional assets.
  • Proven record of applying reservoir engineering methods and EOR in field development or operations context.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with unconventional reservoirs is a plus, though not the primary focus of this role.
  • Experience or strong interaction with facilities design, production and operations is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or Arabic is a plus.
  • Experience with AI, analytical and data visualization tools (Copilot, Claude, Spotfire, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
