About The Position

Salt Lake County is seeking a highly enthusiastic Reservations Coordinator for the Clark Planetarium's Education Department. This role involves conducting daily tasks and initiatives for the department's programs, developing, coordinating, implementing, and organizing these programs. The position also includes coordinating the Education Department's data, records collection, and management, ensuring an excellent customer experience by coordinating with other Planetarium departments and serving as a liaison between program members and internal/external agencies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with (2) years of experience in a closely related field; OR have an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program.
  • General office computer operations, including Microsoft applications in a Windows environment.
  • Customer service skills and effective communication techniques, primarily over the phone.
  • Accurately and quickly input data received via phone calls and/or emails into a custom-built database.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and staff in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Employ problem-solving skills, effectively balancing customer satisfaction and policy adherence.
  • Work independently.
  • Prioritize tasks.
  • Employ basic supervision and training skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts the daily tasks and initiatives for the Education Department programs.
  • Develops, coordinates, implements, and organizes Education Department programs.
  • Coordinates the Education Department data, records collection, and management.
  • Promotes, coordinates, and schedules programs.
  • Maintains records and a database of education programs.
  • Plans, implements, reports, and increases awareness of special programs.
  • Coordinates with other Planetarium departments to ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Coordinates the resolution of program issues.
  • Serves as a liaison between program members and internal and external agencies.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with members, site supervisors, other community organizations, various education programs, and public and private schools.
  • Reconciles reservation information and updates database entries accordingly, utilizing technical knowledge of the database program.
  • Generates periodic activity reports upon request from management.
  • Assists and is knowledgeable about division policies and procedures for group reservations, determines fees, shows access based on group qualifications, and performs research to establish qualifications for state funding.
  • Trains, schedules, and supervises one or more part-time, temporary assistants.
