Researcher in Space Physics
About The Position
Princeton University's Space Physics Group in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences is seeking one or more postdoctoral or senior research associates for experimental and observational space physics. The group's research focuses on various aspects of space physics (heliophysics), with a particular emphasis on experimental and observational space plasma physics. Current leadership roles include NASA's Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX) mission, the Parker Solar Probe (PSP) Integrated Science Investigation of the Sun (ISOIS) energetic particle instrument suite, and the upcoming Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) mission, scheduled for launch on September 24, 2025. IMAP aims to investigate particle acceleration and the Sun's interaction with the interstellar medium. More details can be found at https://spacephysics.princeton.edu/.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Space Physics or a related field.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in analyzing ENA, solar wind, pickup ion, and/or charged particle data.
- Proven ability to lead or contribute to the rapid development and publication of numerous outstanding research articles.
- Experience in developing space instruments.
Responsibilities
- Analysis and publication of Energetic Neutral Atom (ENA) data and other observations from IMAP.
- Analysis and publication of energetic particle observations from ISOIS.
- Analysis and publication of observations from other IMAP instruments and topics, particularly regarding solar wind and pickup ion data.
- Contribution to other funded space physics research within the Group.
