Under general supervision, this role provides support for department research through projects, maintenance and communication of data, and execution of laboratory experiments. The primary responsibilities include carrying out experimental designs for sponsored research projects, performing routine experiments, and recording and compiling accurate records. The role also involves communicating summaries of experimental results, assisting with the evaluation, interpretation, and assessment of experimental data, and ensuring the quality control of assays. Participation in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff to evaluate/interpret the validity of data is expected. Additionally, the role involves carrying out assigned duties for ordering and maintaining supply inventories, operating, calibrating, and performing routine maintenance on specialized equipment, and preparing media and maintaining cells using various culturing techniques. The Research Technologist I may also oversee daily lab operations in the absence of the supervisor or Principle Investigator, and perform other duties as assigned.
