About The Position
The Chan Geomicrobiology Lab within the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Delaware seeks a part-time research technician to support funded research projects. The role involves conducting laboratory experiments with microorganisms, following written protocols, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting results in written reports. The technician will assist with ongoing experiments under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and an Associate Scientist.
Requirements
- Ability to perform aseptic technique.
- Ability to prepare and conduct laboratory experiments involving microorganisms.
- Ability to follow written protocols, collect and analyze data, and clearly document results in written reports.
Nice To Haves
- B.S. or B.A. in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field.
- Relevant coursework with laboratory components.
- Prior research experience in microbiology or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Assist with media preparation.
- Maintain microbial cultures.
- Perform cell counting and microscopy.
- Assist with protein purification.
- Prepare proteomic samples.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and sterile work environment.
- Collect and analyze data and document results in written reports.
- Follow written laboratory protocols.
