About The Position

Principal contribution is providing technical and administrative support for research projects aimed at understanding the pathophysiology of diabetes, obesity and aging. Under general supervision the Research Technician will perform moderately complex lab and/or research-related duties and tasks.

Requirements

  • College or university degree in related field.
  • < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge in relevant scientific field.
  • Knowledge of research techniques or methods relevant to the lab, such as microscope imaging, image and data analyses.
  • Writing/modifying computer scripts.
  • Maintaining the computer network environment.
  • Trouble-shooting hardware/software problems.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted.
  • Relevant research experience.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and performs experiments.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Assisting with developing or amending study protocols.
  • Assisting with developing data collection tools.
  • Assisting with building databases.
  • Providing general administrative support.
  • Interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens.
  • Conducts literature reviews.
  • Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
