About The Position

The Department of Immunobiology is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Research Technician III. This position requires a high level of enthusiasm, dedication, and drive for applicants interested in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying innate immune activation and cell fate decisions using animal and cell-based models. Visa sponsorship is not available for this positions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Willingness to handle rodents is necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Basic tissue culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, and mouse husbandry/handling and genotyping experience are preferred.
• Working knowledge of molecular genetics and immunology laboratory techniques and be ready and willing to learn new skills.
• Ability to learn new procedures, systems, and overall desire for new information.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent, moderately complex lab experiments with minimal supervision.
• Collect and analyze data, and document the results of experiments.
• Record information and maintain detailed records of experimental procedures.
• Assist with experiments of other research staff.
• Apply extensive knowledge of research operations to adapt established protocols, SOPs, and methodologies to fit specific research experiment requirements, and recommend modifications to existing procedures based on observed outcomes and operational needs.
• Use data to prepare reports in a clear and efficient manner for use in grant submissions and publications.
• Present results to PI weekly in one-on-one meetings and periodically in lab meeting.
• Ensure compliance with lab procedures, protocols, and quality control.
• Assist with and organize the set-up of the laboratory experiments and equipment and animal enrichment.
• Manage animal colony.
• Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and lab equipment.
• Order reagents, perform mouse husbandry, and perform lab chores/maintenance as needed.
