About The Position

This entry-level research technical role participates in planned research projects by performing research protocols, experimental procedures, and other laboratory tasks under direct supervision. The role involves conducting translational pediatric cancer and immuno-oncology research under the direction of Dr. Kris Bosse, in collaboration with the St. Baldricks-Stand Up To Cancer Immunogenomics Team. The Bosse Laboratory focuses on developing immunotherapeutic strategies targeting tumor integral cell surface molecules in neuroblastoma and other pediatric cancers, as well as utilizing circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) to define mechanisms of therapeutic resistance and disease progression. The research technician will join a growing translational research team and collaborate with other laboratories at CHOP/Penn. Ongoing projects include translating current immunotherapies, discovering new immunotherapeutic targets, developing CAR T-cell therapy and antibody-drug conjugates, defining mechanisms of immune escape, deciphering key biologic functions of targets, and using preclinical models to define mechanisms of therapeutic resistance. Diverse molecular biology, genomic, and in vitro and in vivo laboratory techniques will be employed. The ideal candidate will work independently with guidance, develop new experimental procedures, assist with laboratory management, collaborate with other researchers, exercise discretion and judgment in experiments and data interpretation, and have some laboratory experience with techniques such as cell culture, RNA purification, PCR, cloning, Western blotting, in vitro functional assays, and flow cytometry. Experience with mouse models is a plus. A minimum 2-year commitment is required, with opportunities to present work at national and international meetings and be involved in manuscript writing. The laboratory environment includes a diverse range of scientists and trainees at all career levels.
