Research Technician II - Part Time
About The Position
The Research Technician II in the Department of Pediatrics conducts research and supports clinical islet cell isolation under the direction of the lab Director, providing quality of work and quality control; completeness of documentation and reporting; functionality of both research and GMP labs; maintaining appropriate inventory levels; and assuring all regulatory agency and Norton Healthcare standards are met or exceeded. This position will also perform laboratory procedures including design and execution of laboratory projects, collection of and accurate recording of procedures and results, and summarization of the findings for publication. Research Technician II is responsible for carrying out day-to-day experimental activities related to research projects and have will flexible working hours needed for clinical islet cell isolation and other pressing scientific and clinical work. The Department of Pediatrics is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a work visa for this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Familiar with techniques including cellular and molecular biology, cell culture and sterile hood work.
- Experience working with human tissues is very desirable.
- Experience in biomedical research and/or knowledge in cell isolation, sterile techniques and good manufacturing practices (GMP) guidelines.

Responsibilities
- Assist in experimental research and assist in special research projects when needed.
- Conduct and organize all studies.
- Perform data collection and analysis and perform research and related tasks on specified projects.
- Write reports and manuscripts, as well as make presentations.
- Develop new techniques; organize and collaborate on statistical analysis of data generated from study results.
- Update research projections: and conduct research on past literature, monitor current research literature for relevant information.
- This includes peer-reviewed manuscripts of research abstracts at national and international meetings.
- Collect, edit, and present research outcomes.
- May recommend new ideas for ongoing lines of research and may interpret and advise faculty regarding extramural funding source guidelines and requirements.
- Participate in research islet cell isolation, as well as clinical isolation in a cGMP lab facility.
