The Singhvi Lab (Basic Sciences Division, Fred Hutch) is looking for a Research Technician I to join a diverse, innovative, and collaborative research team. The Singhvi Lab aims to understand molecular mechanisms by which glia, which are about half the cells in the nervous system, impact sensory perception, neuron shape and physiology, neural circuit activity, and animal behavior. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study.
  • Demonstrated basic laboratory skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in elegans, especially functional imaging and animal behavior assays, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work.
  • Order and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines.
  • Perform and modify documented protocols and assays.
  • Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays.
  • Interpret and report on experimental results.
  • Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed.
  • Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies.
  • May supervise work-study students.
  • Perform other duties as required.
